EU Machinery Regulation 2027: A practical guide for machine builders

What has changed: the new requirements of the EU Machinery Regulation

What you'll learn:

Language: English
Free to attend, registration required

The EU Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 replaces the Machinery Directive from January 20, 2027. For machine builders, it introduces new legal framework, definitions, new procedures for machinery conformity procedures, and new requirements around documentation, software and self-learning systems that go significantly beyond what the old directive asked for.

This first session in our three-part series gives you a clear picture of what has changed and what it means for your machines and processes. No prior knowledge of the new regulation is assumed.

What you will learn:

  • What is new in the legal framework and how it differs from the old directive

  • Key new definitions and what they mean in practice for machine builders

  • Which machines are now classified as high-risk and why

  • New conformity assessment procedures and when they apply

  • Digital documentation requirements and what is now permitted, and required

  • Software as a safety component: what the regulation now explicitly requires

  • Machinery lifecycle safety management: obligations that extend beyond market placement

Why attend:

  • For machine builders, the regulation introduces new obligations around risk assessment, documentation, and product design that require attention now.

  • This session will help you understand exactly where your obligations have changed, identify which of your products are affected, and leave with a clear picture of what needs to happen before January 20.

  • Participants who register for Session 1 will be invited to Sessions 2 and 3, which cover conformity assessment procedures in detail and the official resources available to support compliance.

Presenter
