Project Leader Mechanical Engineering

We are looking for a Project Leader mechanical engineering, who wants to realise multidisciplinary development projects for Industrial automation products such as Industrial PCs, Industrial Monitors and HMI.

Omron is an international manufacturer of industrial automation products for modern machinery. Our products can be found primarily in machinery for the food, automotive and semiconductor industry. The R&D department in Den Bosch is our company’s knowledge centre. Here we develop new technologies and products such as industrial PCs, HMI, AI products, mobile robotics, fixed robotics and system integration, which our B2B clients can then use to build the perfect machine.

As Project leader mechanical engineering, you will be leading multidisciplinary development projects with focus on mechanical design. You will, as a natural leader from R&D, take responsibility from business concept (shared with marketing); architecture, product design, quality verification; and operational preparation (shared with manufacturing). You will show your methodical approach and communication skills in English and Dutch (on a B2 level) in an international and dynamic environment.

What will you do?

  • Lead the mechanical development of  Industrial PC’s, Monitors, HMI’s, etc.
  • Analyse the market requirements and convert these into product specification and modular designs, together with the architects of HW, SW and Manufacturing.
  • Design high quality products with your team, that can be manufactured and assembled reliable and economically.
  • Work both with local teams including the manufacturing organisation in den Bosch as with international teams from the different Omron locations, both within Europe, USA, and Japan
  • Become a champion of our product portfolio and technology
  • Improve working methods on mechanical design and industrialization.
  • Travel occasionally to Omron locations, partners, or customers.

 What are we looking for?

  • BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design.
  • You have at least 10 years work experience; Seniority to make agreements across the organisation and be hands-on as designer
  • You can translate individual customer requests to attractive generic designs.
  • You are experienced with designing high mix low volume parts with different manufacturing technologies (sheet metal, extrusion, injection moulding)
  • You are experienced in making product families based on modular architectures.
  • You are experienced working in multidisciplinary international design teams
  • You have experience with supporting the operational preparation of assembly, supply chain and quality assurance, and can balance the responsibilities in the concurrent engineering process
