G9SP brings flexibility and simplicity to safety

Versatile yet easy to use, the new G9SP software-based modular safety controllers offer a convenient approach to implementing dependable safety systems with a low total cost of ownership. As well as this, the new controllers fully satisfy the needs of today’s end users for flexibility because, unlike hard-wired safety systems, they can be reconfigured quickly and inexpensively when requirements change.

Ideally suited to applications in the packaging, food, automotive, injection moulding and printing sectors, G9SP controllers are available in models with 20/8, 10/16 and 10/4 safety inputs and outputs. These units are complemented by a series of expansion modules that can be used to add conventional inputs and outputs to the controllers.

An optional Ethernet interface makes G9SP controllers easy to integrate with modern control systems, while the USB programming interface means that almost any PC can be used to program and configure the units. Programs can also be stored on removable memory cassettes for easy transfer between controllers – an important benefit for series production applications or in case of replacement.

The controllers feature function-block programming with certified function blocks pre-loaded for all common applications including, for example, non-contact switch, single-beam sensor and safety mat inputs. User-defined function blocks are also supported and are fast and easy to develop and test. All elements of the program, including function blocks, can be re-used in future applications.

The supplied programming software for use with G9SP controllers features an intuitive user interface and provides step-by-step guidance through every stage of the design process. Also incorporated are a simulation tool that allows the functioning of the safety system to be fully evaluated and proved before the system goes live, and a powerful diagnostic system for rapid troubleshooting.

Offering faster, easier integration than hard-wired safety systems, as well as greatly reduced set-up time, the G9SP modular software-based safety controllers comply fully with the requirements of EN ISO 13849-1 (PLe).
